Ovira Tens Machine

Ovira is a portable, discreet, and reliable option for endo pain relief. Learn how it works and where to get it.

Ovira is a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) machine that was developed by a fellow #endowarrior to help ease the excessive pain and cramps that come with endometriosis. It promises "instant, drug-free pain relief" and it delivers!

What You Get

Ovira arrives in a compact, orange box packed full of everything you need. There's the clip-on TENS machine itself, named Noha, the cord to connect it to the Love Handles, charger cord, replacement gel sticky pads, plexiglass disc to store the Love Handles, directions booklet, and a soft, convenient carrying pouch.

Everything is so conveniently sized for portability and discretion while wearing. The last thing you need when dealing with an endo flare up is trying to lug a big TENS machine and find somewhere to fit it so it's not visible to everyone.

How It Works

“Thanks to science, period cramps can now be optional.” - Ovira website

While TENS machines have been around for decades, the use of them for menstrual pain is a much newer concept. By applying the adorably named "Love Handles" to your lower abdomen or lower back, Ovira decreases pain and discomfort by blocking the pain signals your nervous system sends to your brain. If your brain doesn't receive the signals, then you don't feel the pain.

Sound too good to be true? It's not! I was skeptical at first as well, but with the 100-day money-back guarantee (and coverage through my insurance company if it did work), I decided to give Ovira a shot.

No Pain, All Gain

"Welcome to a new period." - Ovira box messaging

I've used my Ovira several times since I purchased it, and noticed that it helped decrease my pain and increase my energy. It wasn't until recently, however, that I was able to try it during a particularly bad flareup. I was in bed, couldn't get up. My partner had to bring in my breakfast and help me sit up to even be able to drink my breakfast shake and take my medications. It was around 2:00PM when I thought 'I wonder if my Ovira would help me get out of bed at least.'

With assistance, I put on my Ovira and not only was I able to get up and move around, I had energy! I was able to make dinner, go for a walk with my dog (my partner held the leash), and complete some basic chores like loading the dishwasher and cleaning the kitchen counters. I was astonished and over the moon happy. Ovira is life changing! 🙌

Being able to wear it both on your lower abdomen and back allows you to focus your pain relief right at the site. No matter which spot you choose, you'll feel the improvements in pain throughout your body.

It's completely silent as well; if you're having a work meeting or running errands, nobody will hear it. So crank it to whatever setting you like best!

Along with the 14 levels of intensity (best pain relief and comfort levels are between 8 and 11 in my opinion), the battery life is a HUGE plus. Charge it up and you can wear it literally all day and night. I wore it for a solid 14 hours and it was still going strong when I took it off. Unlike pain medications that can wear off in the middle of the day, Ovira will go the distance to help you through your whole day from allowing you to get out of bed to post-dinner Netflix binges.

Final Remarks

I do have a few small caveats about Ovira. Going to the bathroom can be a little problematic just because of where the cords are and it not being able to stretch down with your pants. My hack is to clip it to my shirt, but I still worry about hitting or pulling the cords when wiping and pulling my pants back on.

If you're moving around and the gel pads are close to replacement time, the edges of the Love Handles can sometimes partially disconnect from your body. This stops the vibrations completely so you need to just smooth them over your body again and they will kick back in. This likely isn't a problem if you're stationary but if you are running around you may not necessarily notice right away.

The standard cord that comes with it can feel a bit short when you have it on your back; however you can easily purchase a double-length cord straight from the website for $14--problem solved! Since getting mine, I've had a lot better experience both with bathroom trips and the Love Handles staying connected to my body.

Overall, you'll have to pry Ovira from my cold, dead hands to stop me from using it. It's an absolute game changer for me with managing my endometriosis pain and flare-ups! AfterPay is also available to make the slightly higher price tag a bit more manageable. With the 100-day trial offer, you owe it to yourself to see if Ovira is the right fit for you--it might just change your life! There's also free shipping to Canada! #score
